“ If Texas had succeeded in becoming an independent country, its single largest export might well have been blues/rock guitar players. Shawn Pittman is another in a long, long line of six-string slingers to come out of the Lone Star State. His debut offering on Cannonball Records serves up plenty of hard-edged playing. Pittman backs it up with a strong voice and enough twenty-something brashness to take on Hound Dog Taylor's "Give Me Back My Wig" and make it work.” -James Rewindl (Associated Press

'Shawn Pittman With The Moeller Bros'- Triple Troubles

Guitarist/Vocalist Shawn Pittman's latest record can actually be referred to as 'a decade in the making'. Back in 2000, Pittman, along with fellow Texas blues brethren Jason and Johnny Moeller, recorded several tracks in Austin in the vein of bluesmen like Robert Nighthawk and Eddie Taylor. Forward to the present day when the trio head back to the same studio to finish the job,to record six new tracks to complete the disc.

There is no bass here, just Pittman and Johnny Moeller on guitar, with Jason Moeller on drums, wailing and bulldozing their way through a mix of covers and originals. The disc's instrumental opener, the Pittman/Moeller/Moeller original 'Hand it Off', is pure power trio riff 'n' roll, with a groove as wide open as the South Texas Plains, while Doyle Bramhall's 'Tell Me' is a rough-dried boogie, with Pittman and Johnny Moeller tossing around guitar licks like hot potatoes, you can practically see the reddish glow from the overdriven tubes about to shatter on their amps. The buzzing drone of the Jimmy Reed cover 'The Judge Should Know', with Pittman's rasping vocal yowl an atmospheric presence.

"Some of the most fearless,free-form blues in recent memory, performed with blind abandon and an off-the-cuff late-night jam kind of spirit.

-Mark Uricheck-Living Blues
